Results: The Plug-in Mood Snapshot Survey

Late last year, The Plug-in conducted a Mood Snapshot survey to hear from older Australians about their experiences in 2023 and outlook as we head into the new year. Many people had mixed feelings about events or circumstances throughout 2023. As we look ahead to 2024, there are key priorities and challenges for older Australians that you feel we should be aware of. | |

Does your organisation have a few people who have not yet done COTA SA’s LBGTI+ Diversity and Inclusion Training in Aged Care? If so, they are very welcome to be part of the next Open Session Silver Rainbow Training.
Silver Rainbow Training is suitable for management, Board members, staff and volunteers who have contact with older people using Aged or Home Care services. The training takes 4 hours and aims to help staff better understand the needs of LGBTI+ clients and residents. It is practical and interactive, with lots of time for staff to integrate the learnings and explore how they can make their own practices more inclusive, more LGBTI+ respectful. | |

Clubs and Groups for Seniors Clubs, groups and associations for seniors have an important role in creating connections in our community and we are pleased to welcome and support them as free members of COTA SA. | |
Tea Tree Plaza Mall Walkers (TTPMWG) have been members of COTA SA for many years and had this to say:
“COTA SA is a valuable resource for TTPMWG members, being accessible via phone and website for our members who wish to extend their wellbeing. They provide programs such as Strength for Life and COTA Visitors and are very helpful when contacted to navigate for My Aged Care assistance. Many of our members look forward to receiving the Newsletter as a way of keeping up to date on important information.”

Member spotlight: Tea Tree Plaza Mall Walkers | |
- Just retired and young at heart?
- Looking for another interest and want to meet like-minded people?
- And want some exercise too?

If the answer's yes, come and join the Tea Tree Plaza Walking Group on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 7.30am (sign in at 7.15am) for a small very affordable fee per walk. Meet within the TTP complex, on the ground floor near the food court. The group has been going since 2004 with over 100 members, so this could be the start of long-term friendships and enjoyable exercise, plus window shopping before stores open!
Our qualified leaders start with some gentle exercises, then members walk around the mall at their own pace either upstairs or downstairs or both in an all-weather safe and pleasant environment. After the walk, buy a coffee at one of the early morning coffee shops and enjoy a friendly chat and a social get together.

Held on 25-26 January, this two day event program will showcase our SA Story through immersive, visually engaging light, vision and sound installations.
Includes: - Various light, vision and sound installations
- A chance to listen to the wisdom of Aboriginal Elders as they yarn around the campfire on the 25 Jan in the Twilight Reflections: First Nations Ceremony.
- Followed the next morning on the 26 Jan by the profound Mourning in the Morning – Smoking Ceremony event.
- The Respecting Country Parade on 26 January, a vibrant celebration of over 75 South Australian communities
- Both nights will culminate in a spectacular, Cinematic Firework Display
